MEMORIA

7:30 PM WEDNESDAY, AUG 23

FROM EXECUTIVE PRODUCER TILDA SWINTON & CANNES AWARD-WINNING

DIRECTOR APICHATPONG WEERASETHAKUL

A special silent 10-minute pre-show by Weerasethakul will begin at 7:20 PM.

BFS movie previews will screen after the credits for "Memoria."

A profoundly serene film inspired by the Thai director’s own memories and expressions combined with a historical excavation of Latin America, “Memoria” is a bewildering drama about a Scottish woman (Swinton), who, after hearing a loud ‘bang’ at daybreak, begins experiencing a mysterious sensory syndrome while traversing the jungles of Colombia. In her search for the sounds’ origins, she encounters both personal and collective ghosts in the surrounding landscapes.

Released exclusively in theaters to encourage viewers to take a deep, dreamlike plunge into Weersethakul’s hypnotic brand of filmmaking from a unique voice, Empire Magazine writes "Memoria is a hypnotic, unquantifiable, occasionally impenetrable sonic odyssey..designed and deserved to be seen BIG and LOUD." Rated PG. 136 min.
